Are you looking for a place where you can continue your recovery and sober living? Florida sober living homes can be found throughout the state in just about every major city including Orlando, Daytona Beach, Miami, West Palm Beach, Tampa and Jacksonville as well as smaller communities and rural neighborhoods.  These exclusive sober living environments provide those in recovery with a chance to live in a sober environment while making the transition from addiction treatment back into the “real world.”

Find Sober Houses by Cities of Florida

Sober houses are for people who are recovering from a wide range of addiction issues including addiction to heroin, methamphetamine, other drugs or alcohol.  Residents of a Florida sober house are required to stay sober and clean while they are living in the facility and will usually be subject to random drug or alcohol screenings in order to ensure their continued abstinence from substance use.

Many recovering addicts find that it’s easier to transition from treatment into a sober house than it would be to transition right back to living and maintaining a home on their own.  Because the sober house will have a set of rules that help the recovering addict to stay on top of things, maintain adequate employment and stay clean there is typically a reduced risk of relapse when recovering addicts reside in a sober living environment such as a sober house versus moving in with friends or family members following their addiction treatment.

Florida Sober Living Home Rules

Most sober living homes in Florida require those who reside at the home to follow a specific set of rules which will typically include the need to stay sober and clean, hold a job, continue to attend regular support groups or meetings and respect others in the home.  Each Florida sober house will have its own rules, but although these rules may differ from one sober environment to the next they are typically pretty standard across the board.

Some sober houses go as far as to completely ban certain items from a house such as mouthwash which could contain alcohol but not all sober homes are as strict as to ban every alcohol containing product.  All sober houses do go as far as placing a ban on the use of drugs or alcohol in the home as well as by residents outside of the home.

Florida Sober Living is Not for Everyone

While there are very minimal restrictions on who can or cannot reside in a sober house, it’s important to know that sober living is not for everyone.  If you haven’t already completed a drug or alcohol addiction treatment program or have not at least been sober for a month or so, sober living is probably not your best option.  Living in a Florida sober house can be beneficial but it should not take the place of getting adequate treatment and care for your addiction first.

In order to live in a sober house, you must be able to maintain your own sobriety as you will be randomly tested to ensure that you remain abstinent from the use of drugs or alcohol.  Recovering addicts who already have learned the skills and steps to staying sober, have at least a little bit of sobriety time backing them and are ready to transition back into society will do best in a Florida sober living environment.
