Sober Houses in Minnesota
For those who are in recovery from a wide range of drug or alcohol addiction issues, sober living is often the next step following treatment but before heading out to live a sober lifestyle on their own. Minnesota sober living homes provide residents with safe, affordable living environments where they can continue to receive peer support and monitoring that ensures their abstinence while also working toward a more successful term of recovery.

How Sober Living Works
When a resident moves into a sober house, they are required to make a commitment to stay sober, abstaining from drug or alcohol use for the entire duration of time that they live in the residence. Sober living is not for everyone so it’s important to make sure that when you enter a sober house you are ready to remain clean and sober. If you haven’t already completed at least some treatment for addiction or if you haven’t made your way through detox, it’s a good idea to do that first.
Members of the sober living environment will live together in the sober house. They share bills, cost of utilities and household chores while they are in the residence. All tenants of the home will be required to follow the rules of the house which may include attending regular support groups, paying rent or other fees on time and respecting other members of the household.
Who Can Live in a Sober House?
There are few restrictions when it comes to living in a sober house. Most importantly, those who choose to reside there must be willing to make a commitment to sobriety and to staying clean. Some sober houses are gender specific meaning that only men or only women may reside in the home but this is not always the case.
If you have a few weeks of sobriety under your belt, you are committed to staying clean and you are ready to make the transition from treatment to sober living, a sober house is the next step for you. Affordable, safe, clean and sober living can help you to remain on the right path and achieve long term sobriety.
